Midlands based manufacturer looks for continued growth

Grinsty Rail Limited, who are headquartered in Redditch with an additional manufacturing site in Nottingham, saw business grow by 40% in 2020 as it continued to support a vital part of Britain’s transport infrastructure during the COVID pandemic.

With the Redditch operation focusing on key, safety critical electronic equipment such as data recorders and monitors, the business was quickly able to adapt practices and procedures during this difficult time to ensure train operators could keep their vehicles fully operational.

The same was true for the Nottingham site, which refurbishes and reupholsters seating, as it directed resources to the sector attracting new business on the back of its value-added approach.

Commenting on the performance Non-executive Chairman, Mike Priddy, said “These results are testament to the dedication and commitment of the team as they worked to support the company’s valued customers during what was, and still is, an unprecedented period. 18 months ago, we set out plans for growth, recruitment and improvement and I’m pleased that these plans have proved robust enough to see the business succeed despite the challenges that have been thrown at us by the pandemic”

One of last years senior hires Matt Perry-Parker, who joined as Finance Director and MD designate having over 20 years experience in the manufacturing sector with the likes Dennis Eagle and Prodrive Motorsport, takes up the story “It’s a privilege to be given the opportunity to take Grinsty Rail on its progressive journey. 2020 has shown what we can do, and how we can grow and move with the times, with the introduction of a new MRP and accounting system for starters, the ability to adapt and change to the economic climate will be key to the success of us as a business.”

“I’m very much looking forward to the challenge and would like to thank the Board of Grinsty Rail for putting their trust and faith in me with this appointment, I know only too well how important local businesses are to the economy and the performance of 2020 shows all too well what it can achieve with direction and focus”

Another key appointment has been that of Stephen Plant as Operations Manager at the Nottingham site, with over 38 years of experience within the rail sector, covering various disciplines such as manufacturing, planning, project and bid management, production support and facilities management.

Commenting on his appointment Steve said “I am really pleased to have joined the team at Grinsty Rail as Operations Manager. Our aim as a team is to identify, harness and realize the opportunities that are available to us, and to further grow the business.”
