Class 378

The Class 378 project was the refurbishment of 57 five car vehicles for LOROL Trains fitted with longitudinal seating like underground seating. Grinsty rail scope of work was to produce new seat cover assemblies. Working closely with our customer we had to manufacture seat covers to Class 1a Fire safety standard, by using different fire barriers and fire-retardant foam we achieved this goal on our first attempt though an independent test house. After supplying two vehicle sets of cover assemblies to our customer we were asked if we would also undertake the trimming of the seat assemblies because of our experience in this field. We now manufacture and supply from our Nottingham facility one fully trimmed vehicle set of seats per week. On the undertaking of the complete trim work we also introduced to our customer reusable packaging which has now become their supplier standard.
