Grinsty Rail Limited is celebrating a major achievement after being named Responsible & Sustainable Procurement Winner by Siemens Mobility Limited RS/CS โ recognising the companyโs leadership in sustainable innovation across the UK rail industry.
The award celebrates Grinsty Railโs commitment to doing things better โ and greener. From earning ISO 14001 certification to embedding sustainability at the heart of its operations, the company continues to prove that responsible engineering can drive real environmental change.
At Grinsty Rail, sustainability means repairing, reusing, and reimagining. By refurbishing, overhauling, and refreshing electronic, electromechanical, and seating components for rolling stock, the company extends component lifespans, reduces waste, and dramatically cuts emissions compared to manufacturing new. Every project focuses on upgrading materials, finding circular solutions for waste, and helping the rail industry meet its climate goals through smarter, more sustainable choices.
Grinsty Railโs Interiors Division is currently wrapping up a successful Class 700 MรVE Drivers Seat Aesthetic Refresh, updating amenities and extending service life with modern, durable finishes. Meanwhile, the Electronics Division has just kicked off an exciting new project to overhaul driversโ adjustable height DSD pedestals, ensuring reliability, safety, and sustainability go hand in hand.
Colin Wood, Operations Manager and Environmental Lead at Grinsty Rail, said:
โSustainability isnโt just a box we tick โ itโs how we think, design, and deliver. Every time we refurbish instead of replacing, weโre cutting waste, saving carbon, and keeping valuable materials in use. This award shows that small changes can drive big results โ for our customers, for the industry, and for the planet.โ
This recognition from Siemens Mobility shines a spotlight on Grinsty Railโs mission: to make sustainability a practical reality on the railway. Through continuous improvement and circular thinking, Grinsty Rail is helping build a cleaner, smarter, and more responsible future for rail.
